Jerry has had a strong interest in the Church and religion for many years. His BA from UC Santa Cruz is in Philosophy and Religious Studies. He followed that with a MA in Religion, with a concentration in Scripture, at School of Theology in Claremont. In his next academic pursuit he earned a MA in Systematic Theology at the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame in 1986, Jerry became the first Director of the Catechumenate for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana and then went on to be the first Executive Director of the National Council for Catholic Evangelization (NCCE). During this time Jerry produced an educational video on the Catechumenate entitled “A Journey through Easter.”
Jerry then moved into “secular” office administration with companies in Chicago and finally in Sacramento. He is now bringing all of his experience and skills in office administration together as Operations Manager for Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Jerry has also continued his involvement with the catechumenate. He directs the catechumenate for Trinity Cathedral and is on the Board of Directors for the North American Association for the Catechumenate.
Jerry married Mary Heidelman in 1975. They have a daughter who was born in 1990. The family celebrates at and attends Trinity Cathedral because of the diversity and resources found there that enrich their lives and help them in their attempts to enrich others’ lives.
