A Kin Group is the Answer!
Thanks to modern progress, many infectious diseases have been defeated; we can communicate in an instant (or less); and we have indoor plumbing! Progress has come with a price, however. With added mobility, families become widely dispersed, and wide-screens keep us indoors instead of forming community on the front stoop. True and lasting bonds, like those of kinship, are not readily at hand. Kin Groups exist to offer community you can count on. “Kin” refers to the reliable community of kinship.
Perhaps you have sought out a church connection in large part because you want community support and resources for your spiritual walk. Yet the cost or challenge of transportation can prevent coming to all the on-site programs that seem attractive. Many Kin Groups are neighborhood based, so they can help to solve this problem. Others are interest-based, so you can readily connect with those who want to focus on similar concerns or activities.
Whatever the common denominator, all Kin Groups are supported by a Leader-training system, and all offer nurture through a mix of activities that foster connecting, growing, and serving. Current Kin Groups include:
East Area (Folsom and Beyond)
Arden Area
River Park & Arden (with a cooking focus)
Midtown Women (with a focus on creative expression)
North Sacramento/Natomas
Citrus Heights/North Highlands
Pocket Area
