Veteran's Ministry

Reverend Diana Turner leads the Veterans Ministry at Trinity Cathedral. "Veterans Swapping Stories" was the first outcome of her ministry, where vets can gather to swap stories, get support from each other, and seek information for common challenges among veterans. From this came a Veteran's Day celebration in 2015 with a flag line from the Patriot Guard Riders, a Color Guard from the Sacramento Valley Veterans, a guest speaker, and a BBQ and social event for all to enjoy.

Another facet of Rev. Turner's work with veterans is the Veteran's History Project. The United States Congress created the Veterans History Project (VHP) in 2000 as part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, one of the world’s most respected research and cultural institutions. VHP’s mission is to collect, preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American wartime veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
