PRAYER

TRANSEPT PRAYER MINISTRY

The Transept Ministers pray with those seeking healing or comfort for personal concerns. We pray in the Cathedral East Transept during Sunday worship services and participate in the laying on of hands and prayer during Sunday Healing Eucharists, which occur about 6 times a year. Transept Ministers become channels of God's healing love to those in need. For more information contact Shelley Mydans at smydans@comcast.net.

911 TELEPHONE PRAYER CHAIN

Members of the 911 Telephone Prayer Chain pray on the telephone in response to requests for immediate prayer. A prayer is said each time a request is relayed to the next person in the chain. Grateful thanks to God for answering prayers are also included. The group welcomes new members. For more information contact Jill Macdonell through the Cathedral Office at (916) 446-2513. Or submit a prayer request.

ORDER OF SAINT LUKE

The International Order of St. Luke is an ecumenical organization dedicated to the Christian healing ministry. Members meet together in local chapters to study Scripture, especially the biblical stories of the healing miracles, as well as other books on Christian heaing. Members engage in healing prayer. Contact Elba de Rivas White at elbawhite@yahoo.com.

GUIDELINES FOR HEALING PRAYER

Guidelines for the receipt of healing prayer are available at Guidelines for Healing Prayer. [Brian’s suggestion that we include the insert from Sunday Healing Eucharists – title “Prayer and Laying-On of Hands, Church of Ireland”]

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION

Centering Prayer is a modern meditative prayer practice that renews the Christian contemplative tradition. It is a silent prayer that gradually transforms and heals our relationship with God, ourselves and others. An introductory Centering Prayer Group currently meets in the Cathedral East Transept every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. All are welcome. A Centering Prayer Discussion Group meets at the Cathedral monthly at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. For more information, contact Janice L. Boyd.
